In Loving Memory
London
"Blind Dogs See With Their Hearts"
London is a 5 month old pekingese girl who was rescued out of a
Lancaster puppy mill on November 7, 2007.  It was determined by our
Veterinarian that London was strangled so hard that her eye filled up
with fluid and literally popped out of the socket.  Her other eye is not
much better, but did not pop out.  She has been on medication and 3
different eye drops to help with the swelling and pain but none of it is
helping.  We are now left with the sad fact that this sweet little baby will
be completely blind!   She will have to undergo a very long and
gruesome surgery to have her eye removed and sewn shut so no
infection gets in it.  Her other eye which is not injured as bad will stay.
Even after all she has been through she is a still like any other puppy
ready to explore the world.  She loves to play with other dogs and loves
to be held.  She gets around great following voices and sounds
(sometimes she bumps into things but what she lacks in grace she
makes up for in beauty).  London is truly a very precious  girl.
Her medical bills are high, but we will continue to help her fight her battle.
If you could help us help London we would greatly appreciate it (and so
would London)!
Thank You
London's Update
London had her surgery.
We had scheduled London's surgery for December 28, 2007, but when
we went in to have a pre-op visit on December 11, 2007 our vet decided
not to wait any longer due to her eye getting more inflamed.  We were not
really prepared for this so soon, but we trusted our wonderful vet and
decided to go ahead with the surgery.
London endured a long and very awful surgery.  They removed her eye.
London spent 8 long days in critical care, due to her eye socket not
healing as fast as it should have.  Then it happened I got the phone call I
was desperately waiting for "you can come pick up London she is ready
to go home".  London came home just in time to be spoiled by Santa.
The surgery assistant met me outside and she looked at me and said
"this poor baby girl endured so much pain and yet she has the best
disposition and the sweetest personality and she could teach a lot of
people a lesson".  After walking in there and seeing her head spin
around when she heard me calling her name, wagging her tail, and the
non-stop kisses.... I agree!  Her eye has more healing to do, and she has
some strength to gain back, but her spirit is way high.  She has been
walking around carefully not to bump in to things, but has not mastered
all the corners or steps yet but the determination is there.  She has a
huge appetite and gives us no problems taking her meds.  She will be
staying with us until she is completely healed and we find the perfect
forever family for her.  We are all very happy to have our London back
and we are so proud of her for having been such a trooper through all of
this.  She is a very special girl.   Thank you to everyone who made
donations for London you truly are her Guardian Angels.
Update 1-20-08
London will be spay the week of January 28th and will be ready to go
home to her forever family!  Are you a perfect match for London if so
please fill out our  online application.
Update 2-23-08
London is now with her forever family and doing great!!!  Thank you to all
who donated to her surgery.

I just got some very sad news!   London just passed away
after a Massive seizure!  Her mommy tried to bring her
out of it, but could not!  London went unconscious and
died on the way to the vet!  She was only 11 month old
and had so much more exploring to do!
Even though she was blind she lived a very normal life.
She loved going to work with her mommy & daddy.
She was such a good girl and overcame so many
obstacles in life.
We love and miss you London!
Sophia
Little Sophia was rescued out of a Lancaster Puppy Mill on Thursday Dec. 27th 2007
Sophia is a tiny 6 pound Shih-Tzu that spend all of her life producing small puppies that
were sold in our surround Pet Stores!  Sophia is our little Miracle girl!  We still can't
believe Sophia is still here with us considering all that she has been through!  Her first
day of freedom was not really a good day, (besides being freed which of course is the
happy part), Sophia went into labor only a few hours after being rescued!  Now you see
Sophia's Puppies had died inside of her, and her weak little body could not deliver them
due to the fact that her uterus had been home C-sectioned before and the monster that
did that butchered her so badly that the scar tissue closed her uterus and attached to
several different organs!   Of course we rushed Sophia to the vet and that is where she
spend 11 days in critical care!  She had to have emergency surgery, but not before our
vet had to give her several blood transfusion to get her stable enough to handle this
long and very dangerous surgery!  The poor girls body was so weak she could not
stand!  Her uterus was so badly infected!   Her little gums and tongue were as white as a
sheet of paper and overall her prognosis was so very bad!  On Jan 7th we got the call
that she was out of the woods!  Sophia is a strong little girl! We believe that there is a
reason she is still here with us! Sophia has a story to tell through us!  She needs us to
tell people that there is so many other little girls and boys sitting in a filthy wired cage
somewhere and they will continue suffering if people don't stop buying Pet Store
puppies!  As long as there is a demand for puppies at the stores, the puppy millers will
continue to mass produce for profit!   Please help us spread the word! Tell Sophia's
story!  Sophia was lucky we got her when we did otherwise she would have died a
horrible and painful death!
UPDATE
January  10, 2008
Sophia is discovering the world!  She is amazed by everything!  Her little tail does not
stop wagging, and she comes right up to you for hugs and kisses!  She has no idea
what to do with toys, but she finds them very interesting!  She has found out that food
is great and plentiful and she thanks us with a cute little tail wag!  She is truly a sweet
loving little cuddle bug and you can't help pick her up when she comes to you and
climbs up your leg!

With a heavy heart we need to tell you that Sophia has crossed the
rainbow bridge!  Sophia only had a short few month living in freedom!
After all sweet Sophia went through, she died of Kidney failure!  Her
new owner, our wonderful veterinarian gave her the best life a sweet
girl like her could have!  She is very much missed!
Run free sweet Sophia, We miss you!!
Joe Cocker:

Sweet Joe came out of a kill shelter her in PA on Mon April 21, 2008.  We
were called to take him when he had only minutes left!
Joe was peeing blood and therefore was not adoptable!  3 of our awesome
volunteers hopped in the car and went to get Joe!  We took him to the vet
right away and had several tests done on him!  He was healthy except he
had a bladder stone that was stuck and was causing the bleed!  Our
wonderful vet scheduled his surgery on a Sunday because she knew it would
be a long surgery!  Joe was such a trooper the few days he waited for his
surgery!  He was in incredible pain, but we could not give him any meds, due
to the kidney's being infected because of the obstruction!  Regardless of
how uncomfortable he was, Joe was a total sweetheart!  We would sit for
hours and just cuddle!  He was the absolute sweetest!  The day of the
surgery came and we were so relieved to finally have Joe be relieved of his
pain!  He did not want to stay at the vet when I dropped him off, he wanted
to stay with me!  I kissed him on his nose (which he loved) and told him it
was OK I would see him later, and he would fine!  That was the last time I
saw Joe!  Joe died of heart failure during his surgery!  Our vet called me 2
hours into the surgery and told me Joe had crashed and his heart stopped!
The staff there tried everything, but Joe was gone!  His heart gave out!  Joe
was only 1 1/2 years old!

Run free sweet Joe!  You were a true blessing to us all and are deeply
missed!
Joe Cocker
